Marc Bachrach

I help individuals, couples and families separate their emotions from their financial decision making. I talk about money without judgment or expectation. I remove the pervasive social taboo around discussing money to create a safe space to explore, learn and understand finances. I teach people how to reshape their practical and emotional relationship with money and use it as a tool to obtain their goals.

I do this by:

Working as a CDFA®: What’s a CDFA?
  • Delivering affordable, divorce-specific and/or fact-based financial guidance
  • Working side-by-side with couples as a financial neutral or individuals as a financial advocate
  • Promoting equitable financial settlement agreements outside of court
  • Collaborating with family law attorneys on marriage dissolution cases
  • Helping clients understand and navigate the financial complexities of divorce

Providing financial clarification and organization:

  • Helping clients understand the basics and gain the clarification within the confusion
  • Narrowing down from “everything is important” to what is important right now
  • Working with clients to answer questions like:
    • What does a household financial infrastructure look like?
    • What are options for combining finances with my partner – or separating them?
    • How can I best prepare for a career transition or retirement?
    • How can I best talk to and/or assist my launching children or aging parents with their finances?

Helping navigate wealth:

  • The challenges that can come with sudden wealth like an inheritance, sale of a company, equity grant maturation, lottery win or another financial event.
  • The unforeseen challenges in relationships that arise when wealth is a client's “new normal.”
  • The issues that can arise navigating an economic disparity between clients and their friends and family.

Conducting a Lifestyle Analysis:

  • Lifestyle analysis is simply the detailed analysis of all spending and income in an individual or couple’s situation to establish a marital standard of living.
  • Lifestyle analysis can be important, as some states have statutes that cite the marital standard of living as a guide to determine spousal maintenance and sometimes even property division.
